Own Your Space was the final project in my first Graphic Design Graduate Studio. The assignment was to revisit a project from earlier in the semester and fill a 44"x72" panel in our classroom. I chose to revisit "Spread Your Message," which you can read more about in its tab. I used the remaining fabric from the 20 tote bags I created to make a Zero Waste Poncho. To learn more about my Zero Waste Method visit the Sustainable Fashion tab. My goal was to create a living magazine cover and I incorporated fine arts with graphic design as a statement that clothing should have a more artful approach. This project could have been digitally created but I wanted to speak on the idea of "slow fashion." Everything you see here was reused from old projects, the paint, the paper that created the texture in the back, the stool came from my kitchen, and the poncho was made of recycled fabric. Art supplies are all around us, we just have to keep our eyes open.
